On today’s episode of “Who Wants to Get a Multi-million Dollar Bailout?” we have:  Newspapers!  Specifically, two newspapers in Philadelphia, the Inquirer and the Daily News.

George Will has written a column today about the outrage, and the Wall Street Journal calls it “the worst bailout idea so far” and “nuts in eight different ways.”  So much for journalistic independence–but I guess we’ve been disabused of that notion for a while now (see: 2008 Presidential Election).  The newspapers, for their part, have written to Governor Ed Rendell, supplicating themselves for his assistance and explaining how their business is different and so much more important than everyone else’s.  Sound familiar?
